The Good Vibes Approach
The Good Vibes Approach is built upon 5 pillars that we believe take to be an amazing musician in today’s world. Those five elements are:
Ability - developing the skills needed to play your instrument is the bedrock of being a modern musician.
Creativity - from a screaming guitar solo to writing your own songs, being creative is an essential part of being a modern musician.
Musicality - being a musician is more than just playing the notes. It’s playing them with style! So it’s important to understand and explore different genres and how to bring your music to life.
Collaboration - whether that is in a band, using and creating backing tracks or writing songs with others, playing and creating music with other people is fundamental to being a modern musician.
Performance - The final stage is all about sharing your music making and creativity with others. That could be on the stage, in an open-mic event or through recordings and social media.
Our approach runs through everything we do. You’ll develop all five areas in your lessons as well as having extra opportunities through workshops, courses, gig/performance opportunities and events.
REAL Teaching
We believe in real music, real teaching, and real progress.
There’s a reason that we use the word real so much. Because it’s an acronym about how we approach our lessons. It stands for:
Relevance - Engagement - Assessment - Language
Our lessons are relevant to the lives of each student. And that means personalising what we teach and the music we use to teach it.
Our lessons are engaging because that’s when the progress really happens. We have a whole toolkit of different approaches that we build into our lessons to keep moving students forward with their learning.
We want our students to be able to do more than play a song. A modern musician needs to understand what they are doing. And so we have a series of approaches to assess a student's understanding and so the teacher can then make micro adjustments in their learning.
Words have power! Good Vibes lessons are really positive and that comes down to the words and language we use and how we use it.
Using this lens to look at our lessons means that we can make sure that all of our students will have fun, make progress and reach their goals.
