Our Must See Events at the newbury Spring Festival

This year's lineup at the Newbury Spring Festival is nothing short of spectacular with some absolutely spectacular artists performing right here in our town. With over 50 events packed into two weeks, we’ve scoured the programme to bring you our personal favourites and recommendations. Look out for Free Tickets for Under 30s too!

1 - National Youth Jazz Orchestra

The National Youth Jazz Orchestra are up there with best jazz groups around at the moment. They’ve been at the forefront of jazz performance for years and seem to stay there year on year. NYJO's tribute to the legendary trumpeter, Dizzy Gillespie, is a must-see event. Known for their electrifying performances, NYJO pays hommage to one of the genre's greatest pioneers.

2 - Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers

Japanese Taiko drumming is a visual and aural spectacular full of energy, choreography and drama. This concert celebrate Mugenkyo’s 30th Anniversary and are recognised as the leaders of this amazing musical art form.

3 - Kabantu

Kabantu blend folk traditions from cultures across the world to create highly original compositions. The musicians are all multi-instrumentalists and even include a didgeridoo in their line up!

4 - Sam Jewison Quintet

For lovers of classic American music, Sam Jewison offers a fresh take on the beloved American Songbook bringing together elements of jazz, classical and pop music.

5 - Good Vibes Music Academy Showcase Perfromance

Celebrating the rich musical life of Newbury, Good Vibes Music Academy are curating this special concert that brings together local talent. Expect a diverse performance that includes brass bands, school and adult choirs, rock bands and musical theatre!

6 - A Night of Indian Music with Johnathan Mayer and Kousic Sen

From haunting ragas to exhilarating rhythms, Johnathan Mayer (sitar) and Kousic Sen (tabla) explore the rich traditions of Indian classical music that have influenced bands from the Beatles onwards. Both Jonathan and Kousic are leading exponents of Indian music and masters of the genre.

7 - Grooving with Pirates

Last but certainly not least, Grooving with Pirates is a jazz and funk extravaganza especially for children aged 3 to 7. Led by a crew of swashbuckling musicians, this interactive concert promises to delight young audiences with its infectious rhythms and playful melodies. A musical adventure they won't soon forget!
