Keep the good vibes going this half term

Half term is here, and it’s the perfect time to keep the music flowing! While school might be on a break, music is always ready to add a bit of fun to your day. Whether you’ve been learning ukulele, drums, guitar, or another instrument with us, we’ve got some fun ideas to keep you jamming at home during the holidays.

Make a Half-Term Playlist

One of the best ways to feel inspired is by building your own half-term playlist. Choose songs that make you excited, make you want to play along, or maybe even songs that feature your instrument. Challenge yourself to play along with a new track each day, or try to find the beat of your favorite song if you're learning drums. For keyboard players, play with the melody line or find a few chords that fit—your ear will tell you when it’s right!

Challenge Yourself with a New Song

What better time than the half-term break to learn a song that’s been on your wish list? Choose one that gets you excited, even if it’s a little challenging. A new riff on the guitar, a groove on the drums, or a cool keyboard part can be just what you need to stay inspired. It’s all about having fun, so give it a go, and remember you’ve got your Good Vibes music notes and skills to help you along the way.

Jam with Friends or Family

Music is always better when shared, so grab a friend, sibling, or even a parent and have a jam session! If you’ve got a few Good Vibes BandJam members in your neighborhood, get together and play what you’ve been learning. Or, if you’re the only musician around, teach your family a little bit of what you know. They might surprise you with how much fun they have—and you’ll get to show off your skills!

Set Up Your Own “Concert” at Home

If you’re feeling brave, why not put on a little concert for your family or friends? Set up a “stage” in your living room, make a setlist, and perform a few of your favorite tunes. Whether it’s one song or ten, performing for others can be exciting and give you a great confidence boost. You might even want to invite some friends online for a virtual show!

Try a Different Style or Genre

If you usually play rock, why not try a bit of reggae? Love pop music? Try playing a song from jazz or blues! Half term is a great time to explore new genres and sounds, and your instrument will sound different depending on what you play. Drummers can explore different rhythms, guitarists and keyboard players can experiment with scales, and singers can try new vocal styles. It’s all about discovering what your instrument can do.

Have fun, keep the Good Vibes going, and remember—this holiday, it’s all about enjoying your music and making it yours. Happy playing!
